How it Works

Fantasy Garage Door covers are designed to fit onto up and over garage doors, however, with a little work there is no reason that they cannot be fixed other door types such as sectional or swing doors. They are not suitable for use on roller or shutter doors. To adapt your cover for a non standards door you will need to follow the instructions below and cut the cover and use extra Velcro to attach each separate part to the segments of the door. When the door is closed the image should reform and if you have cut the cover in a straight line it should not show. When the door is opened the image should move apart. Extra Velcro can be obtained from DIY stores or on line.

If your door is bigger than our cover (2.13m x2,13m) you can still use it. By mounting it in the middle of the door you will still get a very good effect – people will see the image and not notice the edges.

Brightening up your garage door is incredibly quick and easy with a cover from Fantasy Garage Doors.  It is easier with two people, mainly because the cover is so large, but doing it single handed is quite possible. Just follow these steps:

  1. Have a look through the site and find the design that you like the best and click buy.  It will be sent out to you ASAP.
  2. When you receive your garage door cover unroll it from the box. This needs to be done on a clean level surface to avoid damage to the image. You will see that the top of the image has Velcro sewn onto the back.  All our covers are 2.13m x 2.13m which will fit most garage doors.  Measure your particular door and if needs be trim either the sides or the bottom to make the cover fit. Remember to measure only that part of the door that moves/opens, do not include the frame in your calculations – it is not going to be covered. Carefully mark the outline of your garage door onto the back of the cover before cutting. Trimming can be done with either a good sharp pair of scissors or a Stanley knife. The edges will not fray. Remember: NEVER trim anything off the top, only from the bottom and ALWAYS trim equal amounts off each side. If you cut from the top the Velcro that we have stitched on will not be there! If you trim the width all off one side it will move the image to one side and may not look as good!
  3. Next clean your garage door so that the sticky side of the Velcro that is included in your pack can stick well to your garage door. If you use a spirit cleaner please make sure that you allow plenty of time for the spirit to evaporate/dry before sticking the Velcro on as it may affect the sticking power of the tape. When attaching Velcro it is vital that it smoothed down and firmly attached. It is important that it is straight and even, so the use of a tape measure might be useful
  4. Stick the supplied Velcro around the outside of your garage door. Velcro is made up of two parts. It is vital that you attach the correct part to the garage
  5. Stick the other side of the Velcro to the sides and bottom of the cover.
  6. Leave the Velcro to stick to the surfaces for half an hour.
  7. Now working from the top-middle of the image, towards the edges and then down to the bottom carefully attach the cover to your door.
  8. Being able to operate the garage door will require an access point to the handle/lock mechanism. We suggest either pre-measuring the point at which this access will be needed or by carefully feeling for the lock /handle. Carefully make a small cut in the image to allow the handle through without tearing the cover. It may be necessary to cut a part of the image to allow the lock to be accessed.
  9. You’re done! Now go and hide behind a net curtain and watch the reaction of passers-by!
